Color Coded: Part One

I’m often surprised by how many guys are afraid of color. So many men tend to stick to blacks, blues, grays and whites when buying new clothes. I get why. Color can be intimidating for men, particularly when you’re not sure how to use it. A little color goes a long way though, and I’m a huge fan of using color to take a look that extra step from mediocre to stylish. Here’s an example…

I know. It’s red. It’s really red. Like…St. Nick red. Still, although bright in color, the raw edged seams and oversized collar on this Pea Coat from Burberry keep it masculine. A big key here is balance, of which I’m a big proponent when it comes to the incorporation of color into a particular look. Balance is what allows a guy to have that pop of color while still remaining stylish and somewhat understated. Pairing this coat with black pants or dark denim jeans, and a pair of dark gray shoes would be a great way to accomplish that.

So what do you think? Too over the top?
